About Checkmate Community Inc

A Nonprofit Built to Enrich Senior Lives

We're a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving activity directors and the elderly residents they care for in senior living, assisted living, and memory care communities across the United States.

Our Founding Story

Checkmate Community Inc was founded in 2023 with a simple observation: activity directors at senior care facilities work hard to bring joy and engagement to elderly residents, yet many facilities — especially smaller, under-resourced ones — lack the budget or staff capacity to develop quality programming.

Activity directors at well-resourced facilities have access to professional content, training, and tools. Activity directors at under-resourced facilities don't. We saw an opportunity to bridge this gap through a sustainable nonprofit model.

By building a high-quality activity-resources platform (ActivityBuilder) that paying facilities want to subscribe to, we could use that revenue to underwrite free access for facilities that need help. The result is a self-sustaining nonprofit that serves both activity professionals and the elderly residents they care for — without depending solely on grants or donations to operate.

How We Operate

1. We Build

We develop activity content, planning tools, and educational resources for activity directors. 150+ activities across 12 categories, with new content added monthly.

2. We Sustain

Facilities that can afford a subscription pay for ActivityBuilder access. This revenue funds the operation and allows us to expand the program.

3. We Give Back

Subscription revenue and direct donations fund free and subsidized access to ActivityBuilder for under-resourced facilities that cannot afford dedicated activity resources.

Leadership & Governance

Checkmate Community Inc is governed by its principal officer and operates with the transparency required of a 501(c)(3) public charity under U.S. federal law. As a small organization in our early years, our governance structure is intentionally lean — focused on program execution and direct service to the senior care communities we exist to support.

Our Programs

ActivityBuilder

Our flagship program. A digital activity-resources platform serving more than 500 senior living communities across the United States. Provides 150+ ready-to-use activities, monthly themed content, planning tools, and a peer community for activity professionals.

ActivityBuilder operates a self-sustaining funding model: facilities that can afford a paid subscription support free and subsidized access for facilities that cannot. Direct donations to Checkmate Community Inc further expand free access and fund the development of new activity content for memory-care residents and other under-served populations.
